Feb.

Began by creating a new section on Ducks (6)

Jan.

Added new section on pelicans (6), and added images to coots (7), and ducks (3). Updated iris section and added an Iris image (1).  Also Cactus (3), and Amaryllis (6).

Dec.

Starting with pelicans (8) in La Jolla and seals (2) in cove. Also gulls (1) and shorebirds (1) at San Joachim Bird Sanctuary.  Revised the Digital and Panorama sections. 

Nov.

Starting with  SAC vs Golden West (18) including cheerleader imposter (1). Also a orange palm (1) and new section on coneflowers (2).

Oct.

 Spent almost a week in Yosemite - Fall  (41) and added panoramas (3).   Also upgraded Panorama section.  SAC vs Long Beach (30) and SAC vs College of the Desert (24),

Sept.

Wandered over to Bolsa Chica Reserve to take a few bird pics (4) with Sony A580 & 70-400. The Wedge (21) in Newport Beach experienced some pretty decent waves.  Added some images of hummingbirds (3), egrets (29), Ducks  (3), Egrets  (4), cactus (4), and succulents (4),  It's football season: SAC vs Santa Monica (29) and SAC vs. Palomar (32).

August

Abstracts (3), orchids  (7) and orchid House (1) at Arboretum.  Digitized image of cactus (1). August is also time for  US Open of Surfing (43).  Love the color green so updated section on green (3) and section on minimalist (1).  Also added water lilies (4) from Mission in San Juan Capistrano and reformatted first water lilies section.  Used a new A580 with 70-400 to photograph egrets (3).

July

Spent a week in Monterey (17) and started new sections on Black Crowned Night Herons (4), magnolia flowers  (3), and lotus bed in Chinese garden (1), and lotus flower (1) at Huntington Library and cactus (6).  Also Great Blue Heron (3) at the Arboretum in Arcadia.

June

Slow start this month with first images posted of bananas (1), fusia (5), and sunflowers (3).

May

Central American butterflies (18) at Safari Park (previously called Wild Animal Park).  Nike 6 Pro / Oakley Pro Junior (27) held as lower trestles.  Started new section on succulents (3) and added a couple images to Huntington Library (2).

April

Photographed the Round of 32 at Vans Pier Classic (26) in Huntington Beach south pier.  Also added some Freesia (6) growing on the side of our house and a trip The Living Desert (16) in Palm Springs. Also went to Long Beach Grand Prix (32), first time since 2007.

All new images added to site from now on will be 450 X 630 pixels.  

More public access to high speed internet access has made this change possible.

March

Had an extraordinary  Winter in Yosemite (42) so spending an entire month processing the images.   Added Tunnel View Panorama (1).

Feb.

Finishing up on some gulls (8) that hang around with the pelicans in La Jolla.  Lot of photo opportunities at the LA Arboretum including Epiphyllum (2), camellias (2), and some green (3) images.  Got a couple unexpected hawk (2) images at the Fullerton Arboretum. 

Jan.

Katin Pro (20) surfing contest held on north side of Huntington Beach Pier.  Also nice weather for pelicans (29) at the La Jolla coves. Photographing roses (3) at the beginning of January is kind of unique since most parts of the US are currently snowed in or under water, including parts of California.  Added small waterfall (1) to places (2) and some abstracts (4) and trees (2).

Dec.

December is typically a "clean up" month when I go through old directories of images and work on those that I was too bored to work on earlier in the year. Finishing off some images taken at the LA County Arboretum (2) in Arcadia, Lily (1) at Descanso, and black crowned night herons (4).  Also added a new section with a tropical bird (1) and an abstract (1).

Working of images from Yosemite fall (34) trip.  SAC vs Southwestern (17). 

Also updated Yosemite Seasons slide show with music. 

Oct.

Football season: SAC vs Golden West (23).  Some delicate images of flowers. (4), orchid house (1), cactus (3), and grounds (3) at the LA County Arboretum. Spent a day in the Eastern Sierra (17) including a new panorama (1). Also updated Interactive Map on Eastern Sierra. 

Sept.

Football season: SAC vs Fullerton (23) and SAC vs Victor Valley (32).  Also finishing summer with the Hurley Pro (39) and a Koi in Lily Pond (1).

August

The US Open of Surfing 2010 (47) is the big surfing event this month.  Continued work on Peruvian lilies  (2) and Monterey scenics (1).  Worked in images if deer (4) from Monterey. Finished converting the "figure" section from flash to java script. 

July

Started a new section on Monterey (7).  Peruvian lily (2). Attended "figure shoot" in Monterey: LarvaX (9), Sarah (5).  Apple has confirmed that they will no longer support "Adobe Flash" which will render the figure section and slideshows useless on this site if you use an IPad.  I have found a substitute program to create "Java" based figure images but adding music is virtually impossible.  Thanks Steve Jobs!

June

An Epiphyllum (1) with extreme depth of field utilizing 4 separate images put together with specialized software. Also rediscovered the LA Arboretum greenhouses (4) and Night Heron (2).  Started new section for Water Lilies (3)

May

Began new section for Epiphyllum  (11). Images of Nike 6 Lowers Pro (38) at Trestles.

April

Began new section for Van's Pro (36) surf contest in Huntington Beach.  It's butterfly (21) season again in SoCal.  Also started section on Cherry Blossoms (8) and found some amaryllis (3) and spring bulbs (12).

March

Visited Living Desert (5) in Palm Springs -great wildlife and some butterflies (3). Some green (2) at Huntington Library. Parrots (3) had already finished off most of the coral trees.  Started new section of orchids (10) taken at Sherman gardens. Also bunch of bananas (1) and yellow Clivia (5). 

Feb.

Started with additional image of Q-Surf (6) riders.  Started a new section of minimalist  (2) images. An image at Descanso (1) of fern grotto in oak forest and camellias (3). Shot some surfing images at Ocean beach (16) in very rough surf and a group of pelicans (1) flying over beach. 

Jan.

Traveled to Yellowstone (47) for images of winter.  Images taken at Wild Animal Park include: Hummingbirds (2), Amaryllis (1) Cormorant (1).  Surf's up at Fletchers Cove (27) in Solana Beach. 

Dec.

Fall came late to SoCal this year so I was able to get some autumn color (2) in December.  Also started a new section on autumn leaves (4)  A interesting shot of a peacock posterior  (1). 

Pelicans (2) in La Jolla are beginning to show their mating colors.  Played around with overlaying a figure image in a leaf image (1).

Nov.

Football season: SAC vs Long Beach (34) and SAC vs Fullerton (25).  Started a section on something a little different dead flowers (2) and a rose (1).  Also made a quick visit to Mt. Palomar State Perk (8) to view autumn color - also digitized (1). 

Oct.

Football season: SAC vs Saddleback (33).  Also shot various a animals at Wild Animal Park including Giant Eland (2), flamingo (6), and water lily & waterfall (1). A couple images from Descanso Oak Forest (2), wood ducks (2), autumn leaves (2), and Great Blue Heron (1). Also Freesia (3) and digitized version  (1).

Sept.

Football season: SAC vs SD Mesa (35) and SAC vs Moorpark  (40).  Night heron (2).  Updated Yosemite Seasons Flash slide show (52) and Figure Flash slide show  (49). Hurley Pro (35).

August

Got to Descanso at the perfect time to photograph amaryllis (10). Also cactus (8) in bloom at Huntington Library.  Also worked on  Weston Figure Images (27).  Added a digital (1) image.

July

Coastal images from Monterey (18), California.  Visited San Juan Capistrano Mission to photograph water lilies but not hot enough yet.  Was able to get a few Monarch (4) butterflies.

 US Open of Surfing (62) / Digital (10) is held in Huntington Beach.  Monster waves.

June

Discovered a good looking Great Blue Heron (2) at the LA Arboretum, another parrot (1) at the Huntington and Geese (2).  Also images in Japanese Garden (2).  Started a new section on Fusia (8). Also worked on Rose (1) from Huntington Library.

May.

Decent surf at Nike6 Lowers Pro (29) surf contest at Trestles. Also roses (2), Iris (1), Epiphyllum (8), landing duck (3), squirrel (3), flying night heron (3) and new section on parrots (1). Also new section on sepia abstracts (2).

Apr.

New section on butterflies (31) and Clivia (6).  Also added wolves (3) and a new section on spring bulbs (21). 

Mar.

March marks the beginning of surf contests in SoCal starting with the Van's Pier Classic Pro (17) in Huntington Beach.  Images at Huntington Library (2) cactus garden and a hummingbird (1).

Feb.

Images from Yosemite National Park  (28) in winter.  A lonely Camellia (1) as most of the camellia forest was ravaged by Canker, Night Herons (2), a Lemur (1) and orchids (4).

Jan.

January is always a good time to photograph pelicans (11) on the cliffs of La Jolla. Also added  a "redo" image of Half Dome to Panorama section. Started the year with a photo of a Contax IIIa, including lenses circa 1920-1936 and a some technical stuff on workflow.  Also finishing off winter roses (4) at Descanso.

June

Spent a week at Redwood National Park (57) and coastal areas of Northern California in mid to late May. Added images of Epiphyllum (7) that I forgot to post last May and some roses (5).

May

  Nothing like choppy waves, 20 MPH wind, and occasional rain to highlight the Nike 6 Lowers Pro (39) and Oakley Pro Jr. (17) at Lower Trestles including slide show.   Roses (1) bloom profusely in May. 

April

  The Vans Pro (28) held at the end of March in Surf City.  Also visited Poppy Reserve (14) in Lancaster, CA.  Finally made it Descanso Gardens to check out the last of the spring bulbs (12)

March

  Continuing rain and clouds in Orange County so went back to Palm Desert to photograph wolves (11).  Rain wiped out the prime week for camellias (8) but found a few during the second week of March. Went back and posted some silk floss (7) taken last fall. Finished the month with images butterflies (17) from San Diego.

Feb.

  Started the month with more images of night heron (5) and orchids (3) and Antherium (1) at Sherman Gardens. Also added additional images of pelicans (14) from a second trip to La Jolla. Posted images of cactus garden at Huntington Library (9) in San Marino, California and

wolves (21) taken at the Living Desert in Palm Springs.
