March

Started with green (2) at Huntington Library. Parrots (3) had already finished off most of the coral trees.  Started new section of orchids (10) taken at Sherman gardens in Corona Del Mar. 

Feb.

Started with additional image of Q-Surf (6) riders.  Started a new section of minimalist  (2) images. An image at Descanso (1) of fern grotto in oak forest and camellias (3). Shot some surfing images at Ocean beach (16) in very rough surf and a group of pelicans (1) flying over beach. 

Jan.

Traveled to Yellowstone (47) for images of winter.  Images taken at Wild Animal Park include: Hummingbirds (2), Amaryllis (1) Cormorant (1).  Surf's up at Fletchers Cove (27) in Solana Beach. 

Dec.

Fall came late to SoCal this year so I was able to get some autumn color (2) in December.  Also started a new section on autumn leaves (4)  A interesting shot of a peacock posterior  (1). 

Pelicans (2) in La Jolla are beginning to show their mating colors.  Played around with overlaying a figure image in a leaf image (1).

Nov.

Football season: SAC vs Long Beach (34) and SAC vs Fullerton (25).  Started a section on something a little different dead flowers (2) and a rose (1).  Also made a quick visit to Mt. Palomar State Perk (8) to view autumn color - also digitized (1). 

Oct.

Football season: SAC vs Saddleback (33).  Also shot various a animals at Wild Animal Park including Giant Eland (2), flamingo (6), and water lily & waterfall (1). A couple images from Descanso Oak Forest (2), wood ducks (2), autumn leaves (2), and Great Blue Heron (1). Also Freesia (3) and digitized version  (1).

Sept.

Football season: SAC vs SD Mesa (35) and SAC vs Moorpark  (40).  Night heron (2).  Updated Yosemite Seasons Flash slide show (52) and Figure Flash slide show  (49). Hurley Pro (35).

August

Got to Descanso at the perfect time to photograph amaryllis (10). Also cactus (8) in bloom at Huntington Library.  Also worked on  Weston Figure Images (27).  Added a digital (1) image.

July

Coastal images from Monterey (18), California.  Visited San Juan Capistrano Mission to photograph water lilies but not hot enough yet.  Was able to get a few Monarch (4) butterflies.

 US Open of Surfing (62) / Digital (10) is held in Huntington Beach.  Monster waves.

June

Discovered a good looking Great Blue Heron (2) at the LA Arboretum, another parrot (1) at the Huntington and Geese (2).  Also images in Japanese Garden (2).  Started a new section on Fusia (8). Also worked on Rose (1) from Huntington Library.

May.

Decent surf at Nike6 Lowers Pro (29) surf contest at Trestles. Also roses (2), Iris (1), Epiphyllum (8), landing duck (3), squirrel (3), flying night heron (3) and new section on parrots (1). Also new section on sepia abstracts (2).

Apr.

New section on butterflies (31) and Clivia (6).  Also added wolves (3) and a new section on spring bulbs (21). 

Mar.

March marks the beginning of surf contests in SoCal starting with the Van's Pier Classic Pro (17) in Huntington Beach.  Images at Huntington Library (2) cactus garden and a hummingbird (1).

Feb.

Images from Yosemite National Park  (28) in winter.  A lonely Camellia (1) as most of the camellia forest was ravaged by Canker, Night Herons (2), a Lemur (1) and orchids (4).

Jan.

January is always a good time to photograph pelicans (11) on the cliffs of La Jolla. Also added  a "redo" image of Half Dome to Panorama section. Started the year with a photo of a Contax IIIa, including lenses circa 1920-1936 and a some technical stuff on workflow.  Also finishing off winter roses (4) at Descanso.

June

Spent a week at Redwood National Park (57) and coastal areas of Northern California in mid to late May. Added images of Epiphyllum (7) that I forgot to post last May and some roses (5).

May

  Nothing like choppy waves, 20 MPH wind, and occasional rain to highlight the Nike 6 Lowers Pro (39) and Oakley Pro Jr. (17) at Lower Trestles including slide show.   Roses (1) bloom profusely in May. 

April

  The Vans Pro (28) held at the end of March in Surf City.  Also visited Poppy Reserve (14) in Lancaster, CA.  Finally made it Descanso Gardens to check out the last of the spring bulbs (12)

March

  Continuing rain and clouds in Orange County so went back to Palm Desert to photograph wolves (11).  Rain wiped out the prime week for camellias (8) but found a few during the second week of March. Went back and posted some silk floss (7) taken last fall. Finished the month with images butterflies (17) from San Diego.

Feb.

  Started the month with more images of night heron (5) and orchids (3) and Antherium (1) at Sherman Gardens. Also added additional images of pelicans (14) from a second trip to La Jolla. Posted images of cactus garden at Huntington Library (9) in San Marino, California and

wolves (21) taken at the Living Desert in Palm Springs.

    It's the time of year when many bird species are migrating south thru Southern California. Starting with a few "environmental" images of hawks (2), egrets (4), and night herons (4). Also prepared a quick summary of proportions (5) of images, mats, and frames for presentation. Including images of Cheetahs (10) and Lions (3) taken at Wild Animal Park , some flying pintails (2) and egrets (2) and night heron (1).

    Finished Boost Mobil Pro at Trestles  (46) and completed  Yosemite color  (46) and includes a panorama of the valley floor.

It's football season again starting with Santa Ana College SAC versus Moorpark (43),  SAC versus Fullerton (21) and SAC vs Orange Coast (23).

Aug.

The big event in Southern California in late July (IMOP) is the US Open in Huntington Beach which includes men's (43) and woman's women's (16) surfing in addition to most extreme sports. On the opposite spectrum, amaryllis (11) are doing their quick annual thing at Descanso Gardens. Photographed a finch (2) while at the gardens, black crowned night heron (3) and egrets (2). Finally, no sunflowers but a Gloriosa Daisy (1).

July

Converted the "figure" section to "flash".  Started the month with an image of a Calla Lily (1) and new section on Day Lilies (5). Also getting back to finishing the LBGP Lemans (6) and Speed GT (2).  Accidentally created an Audi (1) digital image  "Location" flash show updated images from Cambria and Monterey.

   Started new section on camellias (10).  New "flash slide show with music" for Champ car racing.  Takes a few minutes to load. Turn your speakers up.  Also added images of orchids (6), birds (2), cactus (5), Leaf in branches (1), and Pelicans (7)

Jan.

   Starting the new year with mages of a Night Heron (6) in a Sycamore tree, fungi (3), winter (6), egrets (1), and new section on vines (4). Also images of pelicans (4), seals (4) and waves (2) added to surfing section.  Went back to Yosemite 2002 and created a Yosemite Valley Floor Panorama (1) from old images.

Images included Van's Pro Surf Contest (15) and Maui by digicam (41). Maui images include a water lily (2). Images of birds include: Egrets (8), Black Crowned Night Herons (3), and Pelicans (2).

March

Capturing the beauty and feel of Camellias (11) can be challenging. Also photographed gulls (3), egrets (3), ducks (13), night herons (3), Ibis (6), and Gerenuk (2).

Feb.

Shot a lot of images of birds on the cliffs of La Jolla. While photographing  pelicans (25), egrets (3), gulls (28), and cormorants (9), got a few grab shots of whales (2).  Also some orchids (3) and koi (5).

Jan.

Early January is an opportune time to photograph birds in SoCal including egrets (5), gulls (14), gulls (4), and cormorants (2). Also, images of lions (4) at Wild Animal Park. While photographing pelicans (19) and pelicans (14) in La Jolla, got a few grab shots of whales (2).  Also started an abstract (3) section, images of green (2), orchids (5), and a digital rendered image (1).

 Images include Palomar Mountain State Park of autumn color (10) and at The Living Desert of hummingbirds (3) a few scenics (2), cactus (2), butterflies (5), and Road Runners (3). (mages taken in San Diego include a Pintail duck (1) flamingos (2), egrets (3), night heron (1) and gulls (5).

  Shot 5 junior college football games of Santa Ana College .  Miscellaneous images of egrets (6) ,a gazelle (1) and a meercat (1) at Wild Animal Park, a black crowned night heron (1),  and a digitally rendered image (1) of a football play.  Finally, fall color at Palomar Mountain State Park (10).

Mid September is time for Boost Mobil Pro (23) at Trestles. Shooting junior college football which includes Ana Ana College SAC vs Palomar (7), SAC vs Fullerton (8), and SAC vs S.D. Mesa (22). Finished images of water lilies (6) taken at Mission San Juan Capistrano.  Also digitally rendered (6) several images.

Aug.

Images include gazelle (8) taken at Wild Animal Park, butterflies (9) taken at Exposition Park in LA and  the US. Open of Surfing on Saturday (13) and Sunday (12).  Also a few miscellaneous images of green (1), amaryllis (8) at Descanso, wood (2), water lilies (5) at Mission SJC, and a digitally rendered image (1).

Images include lotus (5)  taken at my once a year trek to Echo Park in downtown L.A. Also a few images of water lilies (5) and butterflies (9)  taken at Exposition Park in LA.

Spent some time in Monterey (24) photographing at Garrapata, Point Lobos, Carmel River, Westin Wildcat Ranch.  I also captured  images of Least Terns (3)  at Bolsa Chica and Epiphyllum (11)  in San Diego. 

May

Images at the Body Glove Surf Bout held at Lower Trestles at the end of April. The weather was perfect which meant difficult hard lighting. The surf bout has been divided into the men's round of 32 (39),  men's quarters thru finals  (22), and ladies (16).

April

Wild Animal Park opened a new program named Cheetah Run (17). Captured more images of captive animals in the Heart of Africa (4) and a  new exhibit, Lion Camp (4).  Also a few egrets (3), poppies (4), and a sparrow (1). Added assorted images of roses (17) most at South Coast Botanical gardens in Palos Verdes.

March

As early spring approaches, spring bulbs (11) are in full bloom in SoCal.  This is also a good time to photograph nesting egrets (21) gulls (3), night herons (7), and butterflies (20). Additional images taken at Upper Pond (5) and Heart of Africa (4) at Wild Animal Park.  Also images of Saucer Magnolias (2), winter leaves (3), Camellias (2), and orchids (6).

Feb.

February includes remainder of images of pelicans (9) in La Jolla  from January, along with some Cormorants (2),  Camellias (4), baby hummingbirds (1)  in a nest and other (2). New sections on tropical (4) flowers and orchids (10) have been created.

Jan.

January includes images of pelicans in La Jolla (9), flying egrets (2) and some roses (4)  taken last summer.
