1.   LAYER ... DUPLICATE LAYER ... OK
2.   FILTER ... BLUR ... GAUSSIAN BLUR  (incr. radius to 35-50 pixels) ... OK
3.

  at bottom of layers palette, ADD LAYER MASK BUTTON  (square with 0 in it), 

  EDIT ... FILL ... contents: BLACK ... OK

4.   on toolbar, click DEFAULT FOREGROUND & BACKGROUND COLORS
5.

  on toolbar, select PAINT BRUSH TOOL ...

  select a SOFT BRUSH / set OPACITY to 30% to 50%

6.   to remove affect from an area painted, "X on keyboard" to switch the  foreground/background color and undo previous painting
7.   LAYER ... FLATTEN IMAGE ... FILE ... SAVE                 (destructive)

1. Create a duplicate of your image.

2. Delete everything except the skin. Erase the detail sections with 30-50% opacity eraser.

3. Selection the layer (CTRL+click on layer) and run >Filter>Noise>Median.

4. Change the Layer Mode to Luminosity - The Opacity is at 100% and needs to be turned down for a more realistic look.

5. The Opacity has been brought down to 65%

Extra Tip #1

You could also duplicate the "skin" layer and change the Layer Mode to Soft Light for a warmer feel.

Extra Tip #2

Or create an quick tan by changing the second skin layer to Multiply. (bring the Opacity down to less than 50%)
