U.S. Open
The U.S. Open of Surfing, held each August in Huntington beach CA, is reportedly the largest attended surfing contest in the U.S. attracting over 300,000 spectators.
I carry just one camera body, 300-800 zoom with 1.4X tele extender, and tripod with Gimbal head. If something breaks, I'll just have to come back again next year and try again.
As the tide rose during the day, spectators on the beach were bunched tighter and tighter. While I try to stay low (compared to most other photographers), the closeness was kind of distracting.
I kept the 1.4X tele extender on the 300-800 for the entire shoot which required shooting in manual mode.
