Amaryllis 10 |

The above image was taken at Descanso Gardens in La Canada. Beneath a forest of oak trees planted decades ago, are significant plantings of Camellias, Clivia and a smaller area of Amaryllis hidden in the foothills.
I actually missed the peak bloom season of the Amaryllis by about 2 weeks and was confronted with a lot of less than attractive dead blooms. Sometimes this can be interesting but not this time. This is the case where the shot was kind of depressing but I actually got a decent image.
Many times, especially at National Parks and large botanical gardens, one's initial experience is to be in total awe, take a bunch photographs, and then after processing the images, realize that the visual experience failed to be captured.
