Two Ducks Flying |

Under difficult situations, camera and lens equipment really counts. I will sometimes capture static, industrial type images on a 2 megapixel camera with decent results. When photographing birds, I find that a mid range DSLR and hand held 80-400 zoom lens will work quite nicely most of the time. However, when shooting fast moving ducks flying between trees in and out of light, nothing but a top of the line DSLR and fast, professional quality zoom lens will work. Believe me, I've tried. I simply can't get the results I want to achieve using lesser quality, but much more convenient, equipment.
The image above was captured on a D2X with 200-400 VR zoom on carbon tripod with ball head.
