Sparrow

On a trip to photograph egrets in San Diego in April,  I was surprised by the total disappearance of egrets from a pond which usually supported numerous wildlife.  So instead I began to shoot sparrows and other perching birds that are not typically on my radar screen.  The photo above was taken with a 80-400 Vibration Reduction lens loaded with 400 ASA film.  Later that day, I caught up with the egrets who were all caring for their newly hatched young in a Eucalyptus forest. Unfortunately, I only had a 80-400 zoon which wasn't enough lens to shoot egrets feeding their young.
