Camellias blooming in an oak forest offer a subtle beauty not readily experienced. During the height of the Camellia bloom, I've never seen another photographer trying to capture this beauty. The contrasting light escaping the oak canopy generally exceeds the exposure latitude of film which makes correct exposure a little more challenging.
The image was taken with a 200 mm micro lens mounted on a carbon fiber tripod with ball head and electronic release. I generally shoot this type of image at F11 and let matrix metering determine the shutter speed.
