Flying Mallard

Most ducks, especially mallards, fly with extremely fast wing movement. The AF sensors on even the best camera bodies have difficulty obtaining accurate focus on this type of rapid movement. The new AF sensors can be accurate with fast moving birds if they are not rapidly flapping their wings.
Almost impressionistic in feel, this mallard was flying past me very quickly when I captured this image . The image was taken with a 80-400 mm Vibration Reduction zoom lens and a lot of luck. The lens was hand held using a relatively slow 100 ISO negative film.
